School choice empowers parents to select the best educational environment for their children, fostering competition and innovation among schools. It respects parental rights and acknowledges that one-size-fits-all public schooling may not suit every child's needs. I will fight to bring back the Invest in Kids Act that the legislature shamelessly let die last year so that hundreds of low-income students are not forced out of their preferred schools.

Public schools are a cornerstone of our community, providing a fundamental opportunity for every child to receive a quality education. They are necessary for ensuring that all children, regardless of their background, have access to learning and personal development. To make public schools better, I advocate for policies that promote excellence and accountability. This includes supporting merit-based teacher evaluations to reward and retain effective educators, introducing more rigorous academic standards, and ensuring local control over curricula to better reflect community values. It's not just about learning; it's about creating a fertile ground for the dreams of our future generation to take root and flourish.
